Waimea by many is referred to as the upland community and in Hawaiian meaning reddish water. It relates to a stream flowing from the mountain. The community of Waimea itself is beyond special. It is what so many living on the mainland and rural United States could only dream about in movies. Quiet cowboy country living and cool winter nights is what it is all about. One of the greatest neighborhoods that Waimea prides itself on is called Sandalwood. These homes are all sitting on 1 acre plus open green lands. The ocean views are still available and the majority of the residences on the Makai side are selling for well over $1 million. The others located closer to the main road are in the low $800,000's respectively.
