Golfing along the Kohala Coast on the Big Island is beyond a dream to many. The views of lush filled greens with ocean blue hues complement one another like nothing else on this planet. Located in Kamuela, Hawaii, the Hapuna Golf Course is a leisure activity that falls under the other recreation and amusement sector. Mauna Kea Golf Course and Hapuna Golf Course are nearby, about 15 minutes from Mauna Kea Helicopters. Hawaii's Big Island features the Hawaii Beach State Recreation Area, which has a sandy beach. It is one of the finest oceanfront 18-hole golf courses in the Hawaiian Islands as it is located adjacent to the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. A stunning coastline stretches along the Hapuna Golf Course that rises nearly 700 feet up from the surface of the water. It is a magnificent sight to behold the snow-capped peak of Mauna Kea against the Pacific backdrop, which appears to go on forever. Featuring a seemingly never-ending view of the islands as it varies in elevation, Hapuna Golf Course is situated on the west coast high atop the rugged desert landscape of Hawaii's Big Island.

Arnold Palmer / Ed Seay designed this links-style championship golf course which was completed in 1992. It measures approximately 6,900 yards. As a backdrop, the Pacific Ocean is stunning and can be viewed from virtually every hole. Nearby 700 feet above sea level, the 12th hole on the Big Island offers some of the most impressive panoramic vistas on the island - as far as Maui can be Seen. Hapuna Golf Course is regarded as a secret treasure, and is therefore a favorite among the locals. Its challenging design and sensitivity to the environment have distinguished it as one of Hawaii's finest golf courses.

There has been great praise for the design team, not only for the challenge it acquitted itself of, but for the seamless integration it achieved with the existing environment. Palmer included a number of risk-reward possibilities, with par fives in particular, the 14th being a excellent example. This hole is one of the most versatile on the course, providing the player with plenty of challenges due to the right ravine and sallow, but large green. The green can be reached in two shots by long hitters, the green, however, is preferred by short hitters by playing two shots. On Hapuna Golf Course, you'll find driving ranges, putting greens, and bunkers that give you a chance to make use of your golfing abilities before you play for the first time. Also, there are lockers and showers available at the facility to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The facility also has a professional shot that provides all the necessary equipment for a round of golf, in addition to a restaurant. There are a variety of shoes, golf clubs, and other golf memorabilia available in the pro shop. Public guests are also welcome on the Hapuna Course. Several tournaments are held on the course, which is considered to be the most secretive in the islands.
