On the mid southern portion of the Big Island of Hawaii you will find Kailua Kona. A once quaint and quite little harbor town that has now become one of the most highly sought after real estate locations in the world. North Kona is home to quickly climbing roads that will lead you to spectacular estate dream homes overlooking nothing but the pure blue much celebrated Pacific Ocean. Gated communities throughout North Kona that are notable mentions include, Bayview Estates, Keauhou Estates, Makalei Estates, and Kona Bay Estates. There are several others in which you can find the full details for on our well developed website. Many do not realize this but Hualalai, Kukio, and Kohanaiki Resort, all fall under the North Kona umbrella. This part of the island is super desirable and especially for those seeking a home mortgage loan it may become a bit easier since these lands fall under a an acceptable lava zone designation in which insurance companies are more willing to hand out insurance policies.
North Kona is also a place where the cruise ships stop when arriving on this side of the island. The airport is also an International airport meaning that direct flights to out countries are on the playing field. Up above the resorts and halfway to South Kohala is a private gated community full of fantastic opportunity. Especially, for those who love horses and living on 1 acre or more. Be sure to check out Puu Lani Ranch. A great place where the elevation of 2,000 feet above sea level allows for those wonderful fireside evenings with a potential glass of wine. Many cultural attractions exist here, as do wonderful beaches and museums. All of the major shopping on this side of the island is located in downtown Kailua-Kona including, Home Depot, Lowe's Old Navy, Office Max, Ross, Safeway, Target, and Petco. The abundance of condos and oceanfront villas in Kona is sure to please every picky buyer's dream.
There are some many wanterfront units to choose from as well as homes that sit directly on the water along Alii Drive. Most properties on the Big Island are now fee simple. There are still some very few left in which they are designated leasehold ownership. A few condo buildings and coffee farms but that is about all. The best properties in North Kona are the ones with the ocean views. There are so many to choose from if you have the budget. North Kona prices have continued to set a new precedent when it comes to pricing. Two very well known parks in the area are Kaloko-Honokohau National Park and Kekaha Kai State Park. Famous properties like the Magoon Beach House and churches are just some fine examples that Hawaii does in fact contain one of the most historic pasts imaginable. Old plantation homes and low rise beachfront condos still exist in Kona. Sometimes these are the best properties to pursue. Lastly, there are several places in North Kona in which building on a vacant lot or land from scratch makes a lot or sense. Good real estate is still available and when all is said and done, why not design and construct your perfect Hawaiian dream home that way you like it.
