Once upon a time there was Puako, a place so enchanting that it is hard to believe it is no lined with multi million dollar beach from luxury dream homes. Puako Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii. From Kona International Airport at Keahole, take Highway 19 for 22.5 miles to Queen Kaahumanu Hwy. (Highway administration marker). Turn left onto Puako Beach Drive and lookout for signs that say "Puakonome." This will take you to the public parking area. Puako Beach is located on the Big Island of Hawaii, about 22 miles northeast of Kailua-Kona. It's situated between two coral reefs, so the water here are calm and perfect for swimminng, snorkeling, and kayaking. The white-sand beaches are clear blue waters make Puako a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike. You can comb through tide pools or watch surf break over rocks as it slices into sacred sand beneath your feet. If you are feeling more adventurous, scuba diving and snorkeling are excellent ways to explore the Puako coastline. The reefs here are teaming with colorful fish, turtles, and other sea life. It's an underwater paradise that you won't want to miss! Puako Beach is the perfect place to relax and soak up the Hawaiian sun. But it's also a great spot for adventure.
