Puako Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii. From Kona International Airport at Keahole, take Highway 19 for 22.5 miles to Queen Kaahumanu Hwy. (Highway administration marker). Turn left onto Puako Beach Drive and lookout for signs that say "Puakonome." This will take you to the public parking area. Puako Beach is located on the Big Island of Hawaii, about 22 miles northeast of Kailua-Kona. It's situated between two coral reefs, so the water here are calm and perfect for swimminng, snorkeling, and kayaking. The white-sand beaches are clear blue waters make Puako a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike. There are several resorts and hotel located near Puako Beach if you're looking for a place to stay. Or, if you prefer, you can camp right on the beach itself. Either way, you're sure to have an enjoyable experience at this beautiful Hawaiian beach. Furthermore, the sunsets here are some of the most incredible in all of Hawaii.
