Hyped as one of the best farmers markets in all of Hawaii, the Hilo Farmers Market certainly lives up to it's expectations. Being that everything in Hilo is down to earth and simple, it is no wonder that this market continues to stay in line with that type of lifestyle. Many farmers and artists gather here to offer some of the finest fruits and artwork you can purchase on the entire Big Island of Hawaii. The wide choices include Rambutan, papaya, lychee, and even a great home made serving of Pastelles. Held twice a week with over 200 vendors there is simply something to be found for everyone. Offered are Hawaiian crafts, unique foods, custom t-shirts, and the list goes on and on.
The purpose as all of us know behind eating healthy always begins with fresh produce. This is where the Hilo Farmers market comes into the equation. The vegetables and fruits all come directly from the Hawaiian lands of the Big Island. Papayas, pineapple, and lychee just to name a few are all present and on display. On Wednesdays and Saturdays for almost two whole decades now this special place has continue to deliver goods and services. Flowers of all kinds can also be found here including bird of paradise and citrus trees. The hot food stands also serve crafty foods including a green papaya salad. Another one is the massaman curry. A third food choice is the Peruvian menu which is a visitor's pleasure.
Saturdays are always busier than Wednesdays and that means more vendors too. Vegan tapioca pudding couple or topped off with a fruit smoothie is one of the ways to go. Asian and Jewish foods are also represented and present. This is by far one of the most phenomenal places to visit in all of Hawaii. Even if you just come for the freshest produce around you will be satisfied that you did. With different types of bananas and a cracked fresh coconut how can you go wrong. See you at the Hilo Farmer's market sometime soon. A super fun place to visit and explore all that the Big Island in Hilo has to offer.
