This family friendly island is perfect for a picnic, camping, relaxing, and beach fun. The history of this island is quite fascinating. It used to have an ancient temple and a place of refuge to give an escape to locals and warriors from danger. Through the temple and refugee camps they used are not visible anymore but the tales are quite interesting. Some other historical events are also posted on this island that shares the tales of how the tsunami hit this island and how they evacuated in that difficult time. Some trees are also marked with the level of water and the year the tsunami hit the island.
Many activities will keep you entertained on this island besides having a soulful stroll along the beach. Coconut Island has a perfectly maintained grassy area which is ideal for arranging picnics where you can play and enjoy the serene beauty of the beach alongside. You can go there for a picnic. Goof food in a soul-enriching atmosphere is essential to refresh your mind and body. Tourists or visitors can also enjoy kayaking and sailing there. Kayak or Sup boards can easily be rented there to elevate the beach fun. You can also enjoy swimming here in the island water which is why many locals visit this place. The lava bridge is popular among kids there from where they can jump off in the water and double the swimming fun. The lava bridge is a remain of an old footbridge damaged by a very strong tide. This bridge has around 20 feet distance from the water and local kids just love to jump from here. Some tourists are of the view that you won't have endless fun unless you try this adventurous jump.
Even if you don't feel like doing anything adventurous and rushing your adrenaline, then you can explore the lava-formed beaches and tidepools on this island which is kind of a rare phenomenon. You can also enjoy sunbathing in the calming environment and if you are lucky enough you might see a rainbow on a sunny day. You can also try fishing there and enjoy quality time with your family. One other fun activity is to spot sea turtles from the bridge which looks quite cute in the water. The most distinguishing feature of this island is that it has small coves which are shallow pools that are ideal for wading or swimming for kids who are afraid of deep waters. The amazing thing about this island is that people of all ages can enjoy this place. It has a wheelchair and stroller-friendly pathway to assist the elderly, infants, toddlers, and physically different-abled people to join in the fun.
