Trip Advisor - Sam Choy's Kai Lanai
You'll experience the beautiful hospitality of Hawaiian culture, the fantastic scents of fresh island cuisine, and the unique recipes produced by Hawaii's culinary ambassador, Sam Choy. At Sam Choy's Kai Lanai, a breathtaking 230-degree panorama of the Pacific reveals a magnificent blue sanctuary. "The Short Bait" pub is a great spot to meet up with friends for pupus or to relax by the fire pits and watch the sunset. The excellent service and genuine Aloha greeting will make this your preferred lunch and supper destination. The atmosphere at Sam Choy's Kai Lanai is relaxing and inviting with a view of the ocean and mountains. The menu features fresh seafood served in a variety of ways, such as grilled or fried. There are also options for those who prefer land-based proteins such as steak or pork chops. The menu offers a variety of items including fresh seafood, local vegetables and fruits, fresh salads, soups and appetizers.
The signature dishes include lobster tail, shrimp tempura and various entrees such as chicken teriyaki or sesame chicken with fried rice or noodles. When you're wanting all of the Hawaiian staples, go over to Sam Choy's Kai Lanai for all of the fan favorites. Chef Sam Choy, the world-renowned Godfather of Poke, directs the workers at this Kailua-Kona diner in crafting scratch-made delicacies. Then, in his cheerful aloha attitude, they cordially invite their visitors to kick back and relish all the amazing island delights. Scenic sunset views round off the image, making this a terrific place to land when you want a supper to remember. As a result, their tables are always full of regulars from start to finish, thus reservations are strongly advised. In fact, many visitors find it difficult to leave their tables, especially towards sunset. So, schedule your reservation for far before the sun sets. Alternatively, be prepared to wait after your appointment time for all of the guests to gradually remove themselves from the view.
If your table is not available when you arrive, you may seat at the bar for appetizers and beverages. Otherwise, your server will direct you to your chosen location, bring out the menus, and answer all of your queries. They'll also return frequently to see if you want to place an order to the kitchen or if you want anything else along the route. When the kitchen gets your requirements, they will start to work preparing your order from scratch using fresh ingredients and time-honored techniques. Expect a little wait for all of this to occur, but it will be well worth the extra time. Don't forget to request a table on the terrace for the ultimate open-air, oceanside dining experience. When your things come at your table, you'll be able to admire their creative displays right away. However, as you take your first mouthful, you'll understand why this restaurant remains a real local favorite year after year.
