Magic Sands Beach (also known as White Sands Beach) is a small yet quaint beach located right off Alii Drive in Kailua Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. This beach is lifeguard protected and offers some really great body boarding. However, caution needs to be taken seriously as the beach does have a very strong shore break. The waves at times do not look harmful but they can be. With a really nice restaurant just to the right you can spend the entire day at Magic Sands and have lunch or dinner. The name Magic Sands is derived from the winter storms that come in to shore and suck all the sand out to sea. Later they are returned just like magic. A vanishing act like no other beach in all of Hawaii.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Hawaii as kids can play in the water close to shore and the location is suitable for everyone. Being that the lifeguards are there to help and are always making announcements to try and keep everyone safe, this is a really great spot for tourists and locals alike. The rule of thumb here though is that if you are a veteran surfer than this place is better suited for you. The unknown waters and danger here out a ways can get the average person into trouble quickly. The shoreline is so perfect for taking walks as you can spot honu (turtles) all around. To the left there is some really amazing real estate along the water. Beautiful oceanfront condos and homes line the main drag of Alii Drive.

Some locals come here on the weekend and will hang out all day with the family. A really fantastic place and sometimes they will have volleyball net set up to play. When the surf is under control in the summer, the snorkeling is really good too. Another name for Magic Sands Beach is La'aloa Bay Beach Park. Others are White Sands and Disappearing Sands. Most times the waves here are 2-3 feet but they are not to be estimated. If you are looking for a rental you can actually stay right next to this beach and rent a condo. Or better yet purchase your perfect Kailua Kona dream condo on the water. Direct oceanfront real estate along the shores of one of the best places in the country.
