Additional Resources and Information:
Kona Commons is a newer shopping center with large chain stores such as Target, McDonald's, Old Navy, and Ross. This shopping center called Kona Commons can be found in Kailua-Kona along Makala Boulevard. There is great value in this shopping complex on the Big Island that was constructed in partnership with the island's first Target store in 2008. Target remains a part of the complex. In fact, there are so many other nice commercial spaces included as well that it makes this part of Kona very convenient. There's nothing like going to an outdoor mall to enjoy fresh air and the sun, especially if it has a nice paved walkway that channels customers to every storefront, decorated with colorful flowers and dotted with benches. This shopping center offers both national brands in addition to locally-owned and operated stores and restaurants.
Kona Commons is a family-friendly destination offering a wide selection of restaurants and specialty shops owned by national and local companies, as well as a full calendar of family-friendly events. You can buy suitcases, swimsuits, shoes, and aloha shirts at Ross Dress for Less located in this downtown strip mall, or you can visit the Hawaiian Island Creations shop located on the bottom floor, where you can buy a wide array of clothing, surf gear, and accessories. The restaurant offers offers a variety of food and beverages, which include fast-food favorites such as Subway, Dairy Queen, Panda Express, etc; in addition to Ultimate Burger with local beef as well as truly tasty homemade French fries, in addition to Genki Sushi that is served via a conveyer belt. You can get fresh-flower leis from Target at an average price of about what you would pay if you went to your local florist.
Kona Commons Shopping Center has a lot of wonderful shopping stores to choose from. Owned and operated locally, Aloha Grown is a clothing company manufacturer of its own line of printed graphic t-shirts. Since 2010, from the very beginning, they've been participating in local farmer's markets in Hawaii, and as a result, they've grown to own a few shops as well, one of which is located right in Kona Commons. A thick, juicy cheeseburger paired with a large portion of French fries sounds right up your alley then you have to make a visit to Ultimate Burger, located in this Shopping Center. It is a true American grill, and as a result, the ingredients used are mainly grown on farms and ranches on the Big Island, which ensures a truly sustainable menu. On the Big Island, there are many Asian and Polynesian restaurants, which can make it difficult for a visitor to choose between them in a short amount of time. For those who plan on shopping for a prolonged period of time, it is recommended to go in the morning when it is most peaceful.
