The Honuapo was a village in earlier times, and the Honuapo pier ocean passage. Once a busy port area in the town of Honuapo has the bustling sugar carn with the support of Hutchinson sugar cane plantation near the Whittington beach area and has an active shipping facility. It was one of the cheapest sugar-growing plants in the world. However, a giant tsunami wiped out a significant part of Big Island, including Whittington beach. However, in 1948 the land was converted into a park famous as Whittington beach park. The park covers 82 acres of land and has become an excellent enjoyment park for the general public. You can also enjoy the remnants of bombing piers that survive after the attack of Japanese troops. There are great amenities and attractions at Witton park that make it the perfect picnic ground on Big Island Hawaii. It has greasy areas and a shower area with a restroom at the center of the park that is non-portable. You can also enjoy camping at the park or fishing in the rocky areas during the camping experience. It is the most admiring thing at Whittington beach. You can enjoy the endangered Hawksbill sea turtles, especially at the fishpond area during the nighttime. You can easily spot them in the dusk or early down part of the pond area. The sea turtles come into the pond for safety purposes and leave the site early in the morning. So the best time to visit is at night when you can enjoy the endangered sea turtles.

If you want to swim in the beach area, then it can be dangerous as you may face the tidepools during the swimming. Therefore avoid swimming at the beach. You can enjoy it through different activities to pass the quality time. Fishing at the shoreline at stones gives your friends and family the ideal entertainment. You can set up camp with your fellows and enjoy the unique experience. The history of Whittington beach park is old, but still, it attracts visitors to come and enjoy nature. The remnants of the bomb and their survival provide it with a historical look.
