Have you ever seen a black sand beach? If not, then you must have heard about it. Yes, there is a black sand beach on the big island of Hawaii. It is very famous as Punaluu Island. Punaluu is a large black sand beach on the Big Island, effortless to access. It's a fantastic spot for a fast swim, snorkelling, a seaside trek, campsites, or a picnic. But remember that you can only camp if you have a permit. The island of Hawaii has both white and black beaches due to continual volcanic activity. Many people visit it because of its black sand. The beach, located on Hawaii's Big Island's southeastern shore, features a spectacular setting with palm plants, a freshwater fountain, and a lush greenery landscape. Punaluu Beach has stunning lava walls and black sand vistas. It's made up of clean, glossy cooled lava particles that developed when lava collided with the sea. The sea waves broke the sand away by the waves and washed them back to land. Punaluu has the best black sand beach on the island. The dark hue derives from lava from Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano. Because of the powerful waves, lava rushes into the water and cools quickly.

Although we don't recommede you to swim, there is a picnic area with restrooms where you may have your lunch while enjoying the distinct sensation of black sand between your toes. When you visit the island, you will see the tiny, pitch-black lava particles, which is why the beach's black sand. When you're at the beach, grab sand in your hand and see if you can still distinguish any of the larger chunks as being from ancient lava. The coconut plants at the beach are very beneficial. As in summer, on a hot sunny day, the black sand gets quite hot, so the shade of these palms is perfect for eating under and hanging out.

If you plan to take a swim in the Punaluu, it may get difficult for you. Swimming is available at Punaluu, but be cautious while swimming in the sea as the strong currents might occur sometimes. If you want to take a swim, then take your water shoes. Wear the boots before you start your swimming since the black sand on the beach heats up rapidly in the sunlight, and there are numerous pebbles in the water that may be unpleasant if walked on. Punaluu Bay has freshwater springs beneath the surface as salt water is heavier than freshwater. Also, the water from these springs is cooler than seawater and floats on top of it. It might give you the unusual sense of bathing in two different degrees of water, cold and warm, simultaneously. As the turtles are also present in the Punaluu, we can say that they are also why people visit this place. But we will recommend you not to go closer to the turtle and also don't touch them. Always keep safe from the animals present on the island. That is how you can enjoy the beautiful creatures on the island.
