Today our family took the time to drive to the Hilo side of the island. It is hard to believe my wife and I met here some 20 plus years ago now. in 1998 I first set foot at Hilo Airport. Today as we took our two incredible kids into the sprawling ponds and tidepools to enjoy a day off, it helped me but wonder what the prices of Hilo oceanfront condos and homes is currently doing. As a matter of fact, and more importantly, I simply have always had a love for Keaukaha and all that is brings to true Hawaiiana living. There was a time back in the early 2000's when beach homes here were still selling for well under $1 million. Now, across the street from the main road you will be lucky to find a really good property for under $500,000. 

The good news is that there are actually amazing prices on high rise oceanfront condos in Hilo. One of the best buildings is located right on the beautiful park lands of some of the most well preserved Hawaiian fish ponds in the entire state. The grounds are super lush due to all the rain Hilo town receives annually. Super green grass meets the ocean blues and it cannot be replaced by a more refined location. If the views is what you are after, imagine pure long distance ocean horizon coastline Hawaii for the rest of your life to call your new home. The weekends are usually super busy at the beaches in Hilo. If you are patient you will be able to find parking. The people are super kind and so long as you are respectful you will have the time of your life.

Richardson beach also offers restrooms and showers along with a really great black fine sand beach. Today there were 5 large turtles (Honu) resting on the bank of the glistening black lava. We spent time swimming on the beach while surfers and body boarders took to the waves. The homes lining the streets of Hilo Bay are out of this world. Oceanfront million dollar estates all unique in their own right. Hilo has 3-5 really incredible luxury ocean view condos with high rise oceanfront views. These are typically good investments for rentals to either off island visitors, mainland vacationers and even those traveling and coming in from asian countries such as China and Japan. Most foreign students and visitors love Hilo town and one of the main reasons is for the beaches and outstanding real estate deals to be found along the beach and oceanfront shores.
