The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and it's History

The story has been told... Laurance S. Rockefeller went for a swim all the way back in 1960. Immediately afterwards, he fell in love. The location or so called spot for this future hotel was named Mauna Kea due to the visibility of the Mountain one non cloudy days. Making it the first hotel on the Big Island, it was so popular with the world's elites that everyone and anyone who was well known, absolutely wanted to stay here.

Rockefeller was a venture capitalist and capitalize he did. Many hours and days have gone into creating what we now know today as one of the most important iconic hotels in all of Hawaii. The wide landscape and vast lava rock which once stood bare are now home to forever green golf course living with oceanfront waves knocking at each turn.

Real Estate and Life Beyond Simple Living

Timeless traditions are upheld and honored throughout Mauna Kea resort and the real estate is no different. Some of the most sought after exotic woods and finishes are used when building only the best of the best. The unique homes in the resort offer something for everyone and especially with different tastes.

The resort in special in the sense that the elevation tends to climb fairly quickly as compared to other resorts such as Hualalai, Kukio, or Mauna Lani. This in turn gives it's owners by far the best ocean views available on the Kohala Coast couple with gated community ultra living. Several communities are comprised in this most understated Big Island location. An experience with fine dining options at Manta and Copper Bar will only add to your most desired wants.
