Real estate is a form of art. Especially in Hawaii...
The Beginning
In our blogs we not only write about Hawaii luxury homes and condos but we also touch on finer subjects such as life, balance, and our pursuits for what it really means to live. If everything only revolved around money, homes, work, and careers, than what would be the true point of living. I originally came to the beautiful state of Hawaii back in 1998 when I graduated from a well respected Canadian high school. The time for me wearing a uniform with dress pants were finally over. I could be free. With tennis scholarships all over the U.S. and private sponsorships galore, I really could have gone to almost any American University of my choice. I chose University of Hawaii at Hilo. What a great decision it has been. Now, 20 plus years later it has brought me back to my roots where my wife and I have met.
The Balance Factor or Lack of
After graduating I went to work in Honolulu and then after a long 15 year stint on the mainland for a couple of years or so. They say the islands can give you a taste of rock fever and when it hits you hard enough it can cause you to leave. It can even cause some people to move outer island. Doesn't mean it's a bad thing it just is what it is. For me it was real and it happened when I least expected it. I was at the height of my career running my second real estate company that was flourishing beyond belief. Eventually, all of the stress, high stakes, and major amount of volume in managing agents caught up with me.
Fast Forward
The Kohala Coast is my sanctuary. I am finally back and enjoy the simple fact that there really are two major traffic lights that I have to deal with during a typical week in the life. There are so many beautiful places in life to live. It is not for me to judge any of them for anyone. I simply have found my final place. This is it - The Big Island. I have lived in both the busy and also the scarce. For me it is all about the happiness. Everyone needs to find their happy place and cherish every moment of it. Balance is not the same aspect to each person. It can be two completely different things. When you go on enough showings with clients who fly in only to see them get back up on a plane after their short visit. It reminds you of how lucky you are to actually live in Hawaii and call it home.
Why Kohala Coast?
On the Big Island's best coastline lies real estate that exemplifies beauty, class, and luxury. Period. That is it for me. One minute you can be discussing and looking at the most expensive multi-million dollar estates in the world and the next you can be laying on a remote beach next to a perfect stranger, who will never ever in a million years step foot inside Kukio or Hualalai. This to me is what makes this coast so special. I personally receive a wave of happiness in both. The visits inside the most amazing resorts on the Big Island when I am working, and a trip to the best exotic beaches the world over when I am not. This is the Kohala Coast and my reasoning as to why I believe I have finally found the perfect place. Or maybe, just maybe, it has actually found me.
